He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine and wife, Izzy son, Tom Martin, great granddaughter, Lily Goodell his parents sister, Maxine Doughtery and two brothers, Carroll “Bud” and Jack Martin. Russ died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Russ was also President of the Iowa Horseshoe Pitching Association. In 1999, he was inducted into the Iowa Horseshoe Pitching Hall of Fame. He loved playing horseshoe and only became more competitive as he grew older, competing at the community, state and world levels. Russ was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his retirement, Russ continued to serve his community and church even through the last week of his life. Service arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. Russ was a committed faith-based gentleman and attended daily services at both the Greene and Waverly Catholic Churches. Gary (Dan) Brown, Jr., 53, died Wednesday, Octoat home.

After his retirement, Russ continued his love for farming by purchasing land north of Clarksville. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Russ and Izzy made their home in Clarksville. Russ later married Isabelle “Izzy” Bruhl on July 2, 1983. On May 18, 1978, Russ lost his beloved wife, Maxine. Russ launched his own business known as Martin Electric. Russ then moved his family to rural Clarksville. They lived on a farm by Clarion from 1947 to 1969. To this union, six children were born, Tommee, Susee, Cindee, Sallee, Sandee and Tonee.
